Hey, I’m a coach!

How do I use action items with my coaching clients?

It’s easy to get your clients to follow through on their action steps. Either you or your client can create action items, based on your coaching conversations. These pinpoint the areas they have committed to acting upon for the following week, making it easy for you to act as accountability partner.

Creating action items

  1. You can create action items in one of two ways.
    • If you already have coaching clients registered on Life Coach Hub, you can go directly to Client Management. Here you will see all your client folders. Click to enter the folder.
      • When inside the folder, select Tools. Click on Assign new tools to create a new tool
    • Or instead, go to Coaching Tools in the main menu. Then click on Action Items. Click on Create new.
  2. When adding your action item, you’ll give it a title and then write a description. You can also choose to group your action items into categories for your own private use. You can create additional categories at any time by typing into the field marked Category.

How do I read and respond to action item progress reports?

  • If you go into your client’s folder, select the Tools tab. Here you can see all your client’s tools, and can filter by type. Press View progress using the 3-dot Action Item menu at the side.
  • Even more convenient is to head on over to your Progress Stream, which lets you plan coaching sessions, send coaching notes, assign coaching tools, and read and comment on client progress, all from one page. Your Progress Stream will display the most recent comments of all tools at the top. You can filter for tool type and client.
  • Review the details your client has provided about their progress, any setbacks they have encountered, and so on. When they have completed their action item, they can mark it as Achieved, which will be noted in their progress report, and change the status of the action item.
  • To comment, just click the Comment link. Clients can comment back, and this way you can have a productive coaching exchange even between sessions (and this is a perfect way to conduct online coaching).

Note: Make sure you put Life Coach Hub on your Safe Sender email list so that you are sure to receive important emails.
