How do free initial coaching appointments work?

You can offer a free discovery session (โ€œFree Initial Consultationโ€) in two ways. Both are created from the same session form, and a single session can appear in both places.

Option 1 โ€” Public Booking Page

In brief: No account required, Calendly-style

Use your Public Booking Page when you want a fast, low-friction way for new people to grab time with you.

Set up:

  • Go to Offers โ€บ Session Types and create a session (or use the โ€œFree Discovery Callโ€ template).
  • Set Price = $0 and toggle Show on Public Booking Page = ON.
  • You can attach a form for your prospect or attendee to fill out.
  • You can set this to EITHER Published OR Unlisted.
  • Confirm your Availability and Publish your Public Booking Page. (Read more: How do I set up my Public Booking Page?)

What happens when someone books via your Public Booking Page:

  • They are created as a Prospect (not a client yet).
  • The appointment appears in your Sessions page.
  • To begin working with them as a client, invite them using the onboarding wizard.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Use your Public Booking Page link as a lead magnet โ€” add it to your website, social media profiles, email signature, and anywhere new prospects may find you.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Your Public Booking Page can also act as a Calendly-style scheduler for anyone to book time with you. Itโ€™s perfect for networking chats or any kind of business meeting. Once someone becomes a client, though, encourage them to use their Client Portal calendar for ongoing sessions.

Option 2 โ€” Public Store

In brief: This will create a new client, and can appear with your other offers and lead magnets

Create a Public Store offering when you want the free consultation to appear alongside your other lead magnets, as well as paid items in your Public Store.

Set up:

  1. Use the same session form as for the Public Booking Page. Go to Offers โ€บ Session Types and create a $0 session (e.g., โ€œFree Initial Consultationโ€).
  2. You can show it on your Public booking page or not, but if you attach a form, that will ONLY show on the Public Booking page
  3. Make sure you set Status to Published

What happens when someone gets it from the Store:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Add your Public Store link to marketing materials, so prospects can see your full lineup of offers (free and paid) in one place.

Why not do both?

Most coaches choose to offer their free session in both places:

  • On the Public Booking Page for quick, instant leads.
  • In the Public Store to capture interest alongside other services.

Adding links to both your Public Booking Page and Store across your marketing channels maximizes your visibility and makes it easy for prospects to engage with you in the way that suits them best.

  • Website header/footer + contact page
  • Social bios (Instagram/LinkedIn/Facebook/X)
  • Email signature and auto-replies
  • Newsletters, landing pages, and lead magnets

โœจ Offering a free initial session is one of the most effective lead magnets โ€” it lowers the barrier for prospects and helps you turn interest into paying clients.

Quick visibility rules (at a glance)

  • Show on Public Booking Page:
  • Show in Store:
    • Publication = Published (Unlisted/Draft wonโ€™t show).
    • Store ignores attached intake forms (forms are Public Booking Page-only).

FAQ

Does a Public Booking Page booking make someone a client?
No. It creates a Prospect. Use the onboarding wizard to invite them as a client when youโ€™re ready.

Can the same free session appear on both Public Booking Page and Store?
Yes. Use the same form; set Show on Public booking page = Yes and Publication = Published.

Why isnโ€™t my session on the Public Booking Page?
Check Show on Public booking page = Yes, Publication = Published/Unlisted (not Draft), and ensure your Public Booking Page is published.

Why isnโ€™t my session in the Store?
Make sure Publication = Published. Unlisted/Draft wonโ€™t appear in the Store
