The Law of Attraction: The Key to Automatic Happiness

The Basis of Law of Attraction

We create our reality. That is the basis of the Law of Attraction. We create our reality through our thoughts and our choices. But there is a piece most people won’t tell you about the Law of Attraction: it is actually automatic.

We often forget that we are designed to run automatically. We don’t have to think about breathing or keeping our heart beating  and we get extremely uncomfortable when we don’t eat or we eat something that isn’t good for us.

Our bodies, and the more “primitive” portions of our brains, react automatically to our surroundings and steer us toward the path that will help us grow and be happy. We get to choose whether or not to take that path. And we often choose to fight it.

Creating Our Reality

I have a friend who was in a difficult point in her marriage and was having a hard time deciding what to do. Her world started rearranging to help her move onto a new path; she never saw her husband anymore because they worked opposite shifts, she was unhappy when she was around her husband and happy when she wasn’t with him. They fought constantly, and she even stopped having any sexual attraction to him.

At the same time, all of her friends and family were telling her to stick it out, keep to the vows she made, and work through the “rough patch”.

As we talked, we both realized that the external struggle between what her body was telling her, in which her body was literally closing off from her husband, and the advice and opinions of those around her—telling her to “work it out”—was echoing her internal struggle to stay or go. She was re-creating her internal reality externally.

This example is a great illustration of how literally we can take the Law of Attraction.

You really do create your reality and it really is automatic. My friend wasn’t thinking about mirroring her internal struggle in her external life but it was happening anyway. Because the Law of Attraction is just as automatic as breathing, and just as important.

So what do you do with this information? What is the takeaway from all of this? I think it boils down to one thing: choice.

Making a choice

While we create our reality and automatically tend toward the path of growth and happiness, we always have choices. Just like my friend, we can either choose the path that our bodies have laid out for us, or we can choose to override the autopilot with our thoughts.

We can choose to stay in a situation that is obviously not good for us because we think it is what we should be doing, or what our lives should look like. We can let our judgements and expectations create a reality where we are mildly or desperately unhappy.

Or we can let our autopilot do what it is designed to do; head us toward growth and happiness on the most direct route. Your choice.

The 7 Principles of the Law of Attraction and Happiness

Now that we’ve covered the basics of the Law of Attraction and how it’s an automatic process, let’s dive a little deeper. Here are the 7 principles of the Law of Attraction that are essential for unlocking true happiness in our lives. Trust me, as a coach, I’ve seen these principles time and time again with my clients.

The Law of Pure Desire

The Law of Pure Desire is all about being honest with yourself. You know, like when you really, really want that last slice of pizza, but you say you don’t? Yeah, don’t do that with your happiness. Own your desires and believe that you deserve the happiness you’re seeking.

Clients often doubt themselves and struggled to manifest their goals. Trust me, once they started embracing their desires wholeheartedly, things started to change for the better.

The Law of Visualization

Picture this: you’re lounging on a beach, sipping a piña colada, without a care in the world. Sounds fantastic, right? That’s the power of visualization.

I once had a client who dreamt of opening her own bakery. By creating a mental image of her bustling shop, filled with happy customers and the sweet aroma of baked goods, she managed to turn her dream into a reality.

So, go ahead, daydream a little—just make sure to visualize your happiness and watch it manifest in your life.

The Law of Correspondence

The Law of Correspondence is about understanding the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and actions. Simply put, if you think happy thoughts, you’ll feel happier and act happier.

One of my clients was stuck in a rut, constantly complaining about his job. I encouraged him to focus on the positives and find aspects he enjoyed. Lo and behold, his attitude shifted, and his work life improved significantly.

The Law of Inspired Action

The Law of Inspired Action is your cue to get off the couch and make things happen. Remember my bakery-owning client? Visualizing her dream wasn’t enough; she had to roll up her sleeves and put in the work. So, whether you’re seeking happiness in your career, relationships, or personal life, be prepared to take inspired, purposeful action toward your goals.

The Law of Allowing

As a coach, I can’t stress this enough: sometimes, you need to go with the flow. The Law of Allowing is all about accepting what comes your way, both good and bad. Sure, life might throw you some curveballs, but embracing these experiences can lead to unexpected opportunities for happiness.

The Law of Detachment

Ah, the Law of Detachment—easier said than done, right? This principle is about releasing the need to control every aspect of your life. In my coaching experience, clients who learn to let go and trust the process often find happiness in the most unexpected places.

The Law of Gratitude

Last but not least, the Law of Gratitude reminds us to count our blessings. Embracing gratitude can lead to greater happiness by shifting our focus from what’s missing to what we already have. One of my clients started a gratitude journal and discovered just how many wonderful things were already present in her life. So, grab a pen and start counting your blessings—you might be surprised by how much happiness is already around you.

7 Principles of the Law of Attraction and Happiness

Manifesting Happiness in Life

So how do we manifest happiness in life?

Ask yourself, what does happiness look like to you? Is it a fulfilling career, a loving relationship, or maybe a sense of inner peace? Whatever it may be, get clear on your goals and give yourself permission to chase them wholeheartedly.

Next up, let’s bring in those visualization techniques we talked about earlier. Remember our bakery-owning friend? Her daydreams were powerful because they were vivid and emotionally charged. So, don’t just imagine what happiness looks like—feel it, taste it, and embrace it.

Now that you’ve got a clear vision of your happiness, it’s time to align your thoughts and emotions with your desires. This is where the Law of Correspondence comes into play. If you think and feel positive, your actions will follow suit, leading you straight to your happiness goals.

Of course, we can’t forget about taking inspired action. No matter how clear your vision or how positive your thoughts, you’ve got to put in the work to manifest your happiness. Whether it’s applying for your dream job, signing up for a dating app, or joining a meditation class, be proactive in your pursuit of happiness.

Lastly, let’s circle back to gratitude. Focusing on the present and being thankful for what you already have is an essential part of manifesting happiness. So, take a moment each day to reflect on your blessings, big and small, and watch as your happiness continues to grow.

The 4 Keys to Happiness in Life

Let’s talk about the 4 keys to happiness in life that can make all the difference in the world. They’re worth keeping in your back pocket for those rainy days.

Cultivating Positive Relationships

We are social creatures, and nothing boosts our happiness like being surrounded by people who lift us up. Research has consistently shown that strong social connections contribute to increased happiness and well-being (Holt-Lunstad, Smith, & Layton, 2010). So, make an effort to nurture relationships that bring out the best in you, and enjoy the happiness boost that comes with having a supportive social network.

Engaging in Meaningful Work or Activities

You know that feeling of satisfaction when you’ve completed a project or helped someone in need? That’s the power of engaging in meaningful work or activities. Find your passion, whether it’s your career, a hobby, or volunteering, and watch your happiness levels soar. Bonus points if it involves giving back to others or making a difference in the world. Why? tudies have found that engaging in meaningful work or activities is associated with higher levels of happiness and life satisfaction (Steger, Dik, & Duffy, 2012).

Practicing Self-Compassion and Self-Care

You deserve happiness just as much as anyone else, so don’t forget to show yourself some love. Research suggests that practicing self-compassion can lead to increased happiness and well-being (Neff, 2003). Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, and make self-care a priority. By nourishing your mind, body, and soul, you’ll be better equipped to cultivate happiness in your life.

Adopting a Growth Mindset and Embracing Personal Development

Adopting a growth mindset, which involves viewing challenges as opportunities for growth, has been linked to increased happiness and well-being (Dweck, 2006). Embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, and never stop investing in your personal development. As a coach, I’ve seen countless clients transform their lives by adopting this mindset and being open to growth.

The life of your dreams, everything you would love to be, do or have, has always been closer to you than you knew, because the power to everything you want is inside you. Rhonda Byrne Coaching Quote

Making Conscious Choices for Happiness

Recognizing the Power of Choice in Our Lives

It’s important to remember that we have the power to choose happiness in our lives.

One of my clients was stuck in a job she hated and felt powerless to change her situation. But once she realized that she had the power to choose a different path, she bravely quit her job and pursued a more fulfilling career.

Research supports the idea that our choices and personal agency can have a significant impact on our happiness and well-being (Deci & Ryan, 2000).

Evaluating and Adjusting Thoughts and Beliefs

Our thoughts and beliefs shape our reality, so it’s crucial to evaluate them and adjust them when necessary.

I had a client who believed he was unworthy of love, which affected his relationships. By identifying and challenging this belief, he was able to transform his perspective and attract healthier, happier relationships. Studies have shown that cognitive restructuring techniques can lead to increased happiness and well-being (Beck, 2011).

Embracing Change and Personal Growth

Change can be scary, but it’s often necessary for personal growth and happiness. One of my clients was terrified of leaving her comfort zone, but by embracing change and pushing her boundaries, she discovered new passions and interests that brought her joy.

Research has shown that embracing change and personal growth can contribute to increased happiness and life satisfaction (Diener et al., 2017).

Overcoming Challenges and Obstacles Through Perseverance

Life can throw us curveballs, but it’s how we respond to these challenges that matters. One of my clients faced a major setback in his career but persevered and eventually achieved even greater success. This resilience not only led to an improved situation but also increased his overall happiness. Studies have confirmed the importance of perseverance and resilience in overcoming obstacles and achieving happiness (Seligman, 2011).
