The Benefits of Positive Emotions and Positive Coaching

Emotions are part of our everyday, but what effect do they have on our living and lifestyle?

The Problem with Negativity

Negative emotions have been researched for many years and have been found to affect our health and well-being. I’m sure you’ve heard that research has proven anger can trigger heart attacks, anxiety can trigger migraines and so on.

What About Positive Emotions?

Research on positive emotions is fairly new and very exciting. According to Barbara Frederickson, Ph.D., author of the book Positivity: Top-Notch Research Reveals the Upward Spiral That Will Change Your Life and lead scholar of Positive Psychology, negative emotions narrow our ideas about possible actions whereas positive emotions expand our thinking and doing.  We are more open minded with positive emotions.

Barbara talks about ten different forms of positivity including: love, joy, gratitude, serenity, interest, hope, amusement, awe, inspiration and pride.

I can attest to the fact that positivity creates a richer and more fulfilled life. When I compare my overall life experiences from the past to what I’m experiencing now I see a vast difference. My emotions ruled every moment.

Even though I carried an underlying thread of happiness my world was bleak and limited. I was guarded and felt weak. I lacked confidence and battled my inner demons for a moment of happiness. I pitied myself. I felt stuck and frustrated. I always wanted something better.

When I started exploring positive emotions such as joy, interest and gratitude my world expanded. Instead of feeling limited I feel expansive. Instead of feeling pity I am uplifted with gratitude. I am fully confident and dive into new opportunities as they appear on my horizon.

I’m excited to get out of bed in the morning because anything could surprise and delight me. I feel more and more love for myself every day. As each positive emotion entered my life other positive emotions appeared. 

I am dedicated to increasing positivity in my life. The feelings of elation from positivity are extremely satisfying and uplifting.

Uplift Your Life With Positivity

Positivity opens us up and uplifts our world. A positive attitude is beneficial for the mind, body and soul. Instead of shutting down with sadness your heart opens wide with joy. With joy you feel an urge to dive into new adventures and try out new ways of doing things. 

Positivity is the foundation of my business as a personal develoment coach and presenter. Not only is it uplifting and energising for me, but my clients love it!
