Emotions in the Body: Are Your Emotions Making You Sick?
Table of Contents
ToggleThe body and the emotions are deeply linked.
How well do you feel?
How many of you are:
- Carrying a long term illness?
- Not getting any relief using medication?
- Suffering the effects of long term medication use?
- Struggling to move on with your life due to the debilitating condition that has manifested?
- Feeling that you have no power over changing this health condition?
- Feeling that whatever you do nothing seems to help?
- Experiencing constant pain?
If you’ve answered “yes” to any of these, then there is probably an emotional aspect to your health condition.
This is a list of common complaints I hear regularly. Some people are ready to hear what I have to say, while others do not want to take responsibility for their current situation.
You will never hear the truth about health from your doctor. They are more interested in treating the symptom rather than the cause. For this reason, your medication will never cure you.

Listen to your body
The following fact may surprise you: our health is closely related to our thoughts, emotions and beliefs. The symptoms we experience are the effect of those. Have you ever been diagnosed with something and felt it was not right? Do you think that the doctor knows best, or that you know your body better than anyone else?
More often than not we know what our body is trying to tell us. When we stop and take the time to ask ourselves what it is that the body needs to regain health, more often than not you get an answer, and probably one that will really surprise you.
Emotions and your body
Our emotions are closely connected to our health, and so is our sense of belonging. Health conditions generally start during difficult or challenging times. How supported we felt during that time can greatly affect our recovery time.
Mostly the first thing we do when we are sick is call the doctor. Immediately we give our power to someone else believing that they have the answers to our problems. If only you realised that the condition you are experiencing is mostly a reflection of your state of your mind, then you would ask how is it possible for anyone else to know what is going on within me that created the symptoms I am currently dealing with?
Of course the doctor can provide some temporary relief; however, if the underlying cause is not tackled it won’t be long until the symptoms return.
I want to be clear that I am not dismissing the need for doctors, only underlining the best use of their services. There is no substitute for medical intervention in an emergency: this is always crucial. However, the reason why you are in your current situation of chronic unwellness needs to be addressed. If you have attracted a potentially life threatening condition there has to be a deeper reason why.
Having a diagnosis may be helpful to uncover what the root cause is. Taking the doctor’s guidance may feel the best way forward initially; however, when the symptoms are not healing then a more inward approach is needed to identify what is going on within you.

When we start to take responsibility of ourselves and our health, we are empowered to look beyond what is happening. We can ask questions of ourself and find the deeper emotional reason for our current situation.
