12 Steps to decision making
Try these steps to decision making and ask yourself these questions to break free of your inertia.
- Identify your dilemma – What is the decision that you have to make?
- Be aware of deadlines – When is the decision needed by?
- Be aware of the present – What is today’s date?
- Give the decision a level of importance and ask yourself if it is… – Trivial – Non-lethal – Worthwhile – Weighty – Life Changing
- Rate your indecisiveness level. Are you: – Wishy-washy – Neutral – Partisan – Mind made up
- What is the best-case scenario around making this decision?
- What is the worst-case scenario around making this decision?
- Identify your gut feelings about making this decision, and list the plusses and minuses of each.
- What is your intuitive conclusion about this decision?
- What is your rational conclusion about this decision?
- What is the decision?
- What are your next steps? Now that you’ve made the decision, what is your next action?
