Simplify Holiday Decorating

Does it take you longer than you would like to decorate for Christmas?

If so, then read on to learn what four things you can do THIS YEAR to set you up for success NEXT YEAR, and the year after that, and the year after that…

Give Your Unloved Decorations a New Home

After you finish decorating this year look at the items you did NOT display and ask yourself why?

Consider donating all or some of those items.

  • You will have less to weed through next year.
  • Also, keep in mind that most charitable organizations have a small amount of storage space.
  • This means most organizations can only accept Christmas decorations during the holiday season.

So, if you no longer love it, now is the perfect time to give it a new home.

Take Pictures

  1. Take pictures of your rooms decorated.
  2. Print out the photos and store them with your decorations.
  3. Refer to these pictures next year.
  4. This will save you time trying to figure out what goes where.

Contain By Room

When you put away the decorations consider containing them by room.

For example, you might have two boxes that say “Christmas-Kitchen” or three boxes labeled “Christmas-Living Room.”

Next year, you can decorate one room at a time and if you reference your photos it will be a breeze.

Create an “Open First” Container

Create an Open First container and put your go-to decorations, like stockings and tree skirts, in it.

In other words, if you only had 20 minutes to decorate your home what would you display? That’s what goes into this box.

Life is complicated and there may be some years when you only have time to put up the “Open First” box.

Trust me. You will be glad you have it.

And enjoy a more organized Christmas!

You may have to spend a little extra time THIS YEAR putting these ideas into place, but come this time NEXT YEAR you will be SO glad you did.

May God Bless you this Christmas!
