It’s All About Your Journey: An Empowerment Speech for Young Girls
I have come to understand that every day is something to cherish. So when you wake up, remind yourself to appreciate the day as it’s passing by.
Enjoy something in each of your activities, from brushing your teeth or taking care of your home life, to going out to the events, such as a surprise birthday party for a friend. These are the years of your life that will help to mold you into the person that you will be as an adult.
At least that is what everyone keeps telling you, right?! I know it seems that with every passing year, there is more and more pressure on you to build yourself up into something great for your future. From your teachers pushing you in school to your parents’ demands, these can be some stressful years for you.
I know many of you may be going through some things that you feel you may not be able to handle… I know because I have been there. You can RISE above all the obstacles.
I know, I was a teenage mom, but I went back to school and learned a trade and took up information technology where I learned to type over 75 words per minute, and I learned over 25 computer software programs. I’m a Gadget Girl, I love phones, tablets and flip speakers and more. Now I have a good job working for the Unified Court System as a Senior Court Office Assistant. Family means everything to me, nowadays sometimes all we have is family.
Don’t be afraid to speak your mind. Speak your truth… let people know how you feel. If it’s important to you, then others must learn to accept, respect or understand what you’re going through. No matter how big or small the issue. Remember there is a solution to every problem.

Your journey is a profound one that can change you in so many positive ways. Let the world know about your walks on your journey even when months have passed. You’ve learned that it’s okay to accept help from others and that you too can work well with others.
Here are simple steps that you can use to help you to achieve your greatness:
- Understand yourself
- Accept your body
- Be confident
- Handle negative moods
- Overcome challenges
- Get motivated
- Build good relationships – like finding a Mentor
- Finish what you start
- Have fun, celebrate and honor yourself!
Remember you’ve got your whole life journey—stretching out ahead of you.
