Three Steps to Getting Motivated

It is no secret that in order to be successful you have to be motivated. Motivation is the most important element in becoming successful. However, motivation is very rare to encounter in today’s society. More often than not the energy people could be using on motivation is burnt out on negative or wasteful influences. Our culture consumes itself with distraction every day. Even worse, our young adults and teenagers are the primary offenders. They spend their time on video games, movies, and other pop culture when they should be building their future. This is part the fault of their role models and part their lack of motivation.

Motivation is hard to obtain and hard to maintain but it is needed. All research will show that motivation is created by the environment you install yourself into and your environment is created by influences. So with that information it would be safe to say that you need to be surrounded by who you want to be. It is exactly as the old saying says, “birds of a feather fly together”. If you surround yourself with drug dealers, delinquents, and gang bangers you will naturally develop similar traits and characteristics. Contrary wise, if you surround yourself with successful, wealthy, and powerful people you will begin to be like them.

Step 1: Who do you want to be?

The very first step in your motivation process is to look at yourself and decide who you want to be. This may be hard but it must be done. It took me four months before I was certain of what I wanted. You may have to take aptitude test or personality test. The goal or dream however does not matter at this point, you just need to know what it is. As long as the dream is your true passion that is all that matters.

Step 2: Clean up your life

Next you need to start cleaning up your life and your mind. At this point it is necessary to start getting rid of all the people that negatively influence your life. If you take a look at your life you will see that some people are hindering your success. They might be distracting you or introducing you to distractions. They might be putting you and your goals down. Whatever it is that these people are doing, it is time to get rid of them.

The same goes for you mind. Your mind has incredible powers that you could never imagine. If your mind truly believes something then it will happen. In that thought, it is necessary that you believe in your goal and in yourself. If you do not believe in yourself than do not expect me or anyone else to believe in you. You need to find all of your doubts, all of you self-esteem problems, and all of your negative thoughts. Once you have located them you need to get rid of them. You mind will create what you think, if you think you are not worth success than you will not have success, if you think you are worth success you will get success. I like to word it this way: “You live in the environment that your mind creates”.

Step 3: Keep your eye on the prize

The last step is simply keeping your eye on the prize and maintaining motivation. Now I said simply but do not think this is an easy task. This final step is truly the hardest and longest part of the process. At this point you need to look at your dream and make a pathway to success. If you cleaned out your life and mind properly you should have plenty of time to do this.

You will need to set hourly, daily, weekly, months, and yearly goals. Sometimes your goals will go farther than that; I personally have decade goals for the next fifty years. Your motivation is going to be meeting these goals. Consider these goals as check points along the way to success. During this time you must be constantly reflecting back on the goal to ensure that you are not being distracted. If you notice that you are becoming distracted then clean out your life and mind again.

If you follow these simple steps I give guarantee you will see success.

I challenge you all to start cleaning out your life and mind and to start focusing on the goal.
