How to Look Younger

Aging is inevitable. We are getting older by the second whether we like it or not. While getting older is an unavoidable fact of life, most of us are trying to fight the aging process and striving to maintain youthful looks.

There are a lot of things you can do to look younger. Some of these things are more extreme, like cosmetic surgery. Other means to look younger are less dramatic and less expensive. The following tips fall into the latter category. These are just two ways that you can make yourself look younger.

Dress like someone your age

This seems counterintuitive, but have you ever seen someone trying to look young simply be dressing young? Often all this ends up doing is making it painfully obvious how old that person really is, or it makes that person look even older. The juxtaposition between, for example, a 50-year-old’s face and a trendy outfit designed for teenagers makes this phenomenon uncomfortably obvious.

By dressing in an age-appropriate, fashionable outfit, you will effectively look younger. Your clothes won’t make your aging so noticeable. Your look will also be much more flattering and will show off how modern and sharp you are.

Maintain a healthy weight

As you age, your skin loses elasticity, becoming looser and less resilient. This means that your body adapts much less readily to weight loss. If you are on the larger side, losing a great amount of weight will leave you with a lot of hanging flesh, and as your skin is less elastic it quite possible won’t be able to rebound.

Even taking off a few extra pounds could leave you with unsightly flab, as it takes your skin much longer to recover. Sometimes this loose skin can make you look even skinnier and almost skeletal, as if you are frail, sickly, and “all bones.”

Conclusion

These are only two ways to help you look younger. There are plenty of ways to achieve a more youthful look. While these are effective, one of the best ways to look younger is to start taking measures to prevent the signs of aging when you are still young. This includes avoiding the sun, not smoking, and doing other things that will help keep your skin healthy, supple and smooth for years to come.
