Finding Your Purpose in Life

Self examination can help one to find life’s purpose.

Have you ever wondered what your life purpose is? You possess within you a guidance system which tells you if you are “on purpose.” When you feel the most happy and joyful, then you know you are on the right track. You need to learn to follow your heart and your instincts.

You may have lost sight of your true life purpose. It is very easy to get side tracked and feel like you are not accomplishing much. You may be stuck in a rut, unhappy, stressed and frustrated because you have lost focus. So, how can you find your true life’s purpose?

Sit down with pen and paper and ask yourself these questions:

1.  What is truly important to me?

2.  What do I really desire?

3.  If I knew I couldn’t fail, what would I really want to do?

4.  What do I feel passionate about?

5.  If money wasn’t an issue, what could I achieve?

6.  What do I enjoy talking and reading about?

7.  What hobbies and activities excite me?

8.  When I was young, what did I really love doing?

9.  What is the meaning of success to me?

10.  What make me very happy?

Once you have a clearer picture of our life’s purpose, organize your life around it. Keep focused and do not let anything stand in your way. Read over your life’s purpose every day. Find ways to incorporate your life’s purpose into your everyday life.

This is easier than you may think. Do you know someone who has accomplished what you want to do?  Invite them out to lunch and ask them about it. In other words, find a good mentor to help show you the way. Find others and read about their success stories.

Don’t ever compromise yourself because you cannot spend your whole life doing for other people, following their path, goals and dreams. You have to be true to your desires, your needs, your wants and yourself. What this means is that you need to learn to say “no” more often so that you have the time to go after your own life’s purpose and not someone else’s.

Learn to live your life as if every single day has a purpose. Don’t just look at the finish line to your life’s purpose but take every day and use it like baby steps that will take you where you want to go. Even if you aren’t sure where the finish line is, that is okay. Just do things every single day that bring you happiness, peace and comfort, and you will find your life’s purpose.

Remember that your life is a journey and not a destination. Finding your life’s purpose takes patience and you will get to the finish line but don’t be in a huge hurry. Stop and smell the roses and enjoy the scenery along the way. Finding your life’s purpose is not hard; it will just take time and your willingness to stay focused yet still letting the wind take you where it may.
