Coaching for Spirituality: Without Any Mumbo Jumbo

Everyone’s spiritual path is different, this gentleman is greeting the world in his own unique way. Find your own way to happiness through spiritual coaching.

Many potential coaching clients hear the word “spirituality” and they freeze. They’re seeking help with many issues but they don’t want religious advice from a coach. That’s a common reaction, and fortunately it’s not what “spirituality” is really about from a coaching perspective. Your coach is not a priest, rabbi, imam or other religious official and when they talk about “spirituality” it’s not in a religious context.

Spiritually in a coaching content

It’s easy to understand the confusion. Religion is deeply spiritual for many people, and thus it dominates our understanding of the term. However, in simple terms you don’t need to have a religion to live a spiritual existence. You can define the term with other reference points – such as well-being, inner-calm, or fulfilment of deep seated desires.

In essence spiritual coaching is a journey to define what’s really important in your life. Many wealthy, successful people find that there’s something missing in their lives. A kind of gap that a nice home, a high-flying career, and top of the range car just can’t fill. This leads to unhappiness. A coach can help someone identify what this “missing piece” is and help them obtain it, enabling that person to be truly content.

This can be described as a path to personal enlightenment, that allows an individual to lead a life that has meaning all the time, whatever their immediate circumstances may be. There is no shame in a desire to be happy. In fact a happy life may be the most fulfilling way to be. One of the biggest benefits of happiness is the ability to share your joy in life with others. It’s not selfish to be complete, it enables giving, sharing, caring and more for the people in your life too.

If you are religious, then you don’t need to worry. All the world’s religions encourage spiritual growth and recognise that everyone’s journey is unique. You don’t need to worry that spiritual coaching will conflict with your religion in any way. If you aren’t religious then you can embrace your spiritual nature without fear of being labelled. There’s certainly no atheist tenet that requires you to remain unfulfilled or unhappy either.

How can life coaching assist with exploring and developing my spiritual side?

Coaches will work with you to help you better understand your inner desires and personal goals. The process allows you to examine the things that are really important in your life, so you can focus more on them – without neglecting the necessary aspects of leading a healthy, happy life.

A good life coach can help you to establish and then develop a relationship with the inner you, so that you’re guided by your values. This leads to a more harmonious and less stressful life as your actions become more congruent with your character.

They can help you identify any barriers to your spiritual development and develop the means to overcome such barriers. Most importantly as you develop spiritually you’ll find it easier to lead a peaceful life, accepting the world as it is and enjoying it for all that it brings to you.

Spiritual coaching is there to achieve practical results in your life that lead to happiness. The happier you are, the happier the people around you will be.
