Nicole Redmond

About Me

Nicole Redmond, MD, PhD, MPH is a board-certified internal medicine physician who completed her MD/PhD in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina. She completed her internal medicine (primary care track) residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her Masters in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health as a part of her training in the Harvard Fellowships in General Internal Medicine and Primary Care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Preventive Medicine within the University of Alabama School of Medicine (UASOM) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Birmingham, Alabama. Currently, she is a Medical Officer with the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. Her research and clinical interests focus on research and clinical care for minority and low-income populations and addressing health disparities. One strategy to address disparities is to increase the diversity of the healthcare and scientific workforce. Coupled with her extensive training, Dr. Redmond's personal experience as an underrepresented minority female provides a unique perspective on career development for students, clinical and research residents and fellows, and junior faculty.
