About Me

I’m Key McKay, a Certified Business Development and Leadership Consultant and Coach who has learned the ins and outs of entrepreneurship the way most real business owners do—by doing it.

My journey started in college, when I launched a marketing agency focused on the nightlife industry. I helped ramp up college night revenues for multiple nightclubs and introduced new revenue streams with party buses. From there, I opened my own retail shoe store—my first big failure. That experience taught me firsthand the critical importance of having the right systems and processes in place to support sustainable growth.

Determined to learn what truly makes businesses run well, I dove deep into operations and systems. I built a career in remote work, implementing systems and training remote teams for companies like Apple, AARP, Victoria’s Secret, and the SBA, helping them transition from in-person to global virtual workforces.

Later, I co-founded McKay’s Music with my husband, providing in-home music lessons across Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Counties. We grew that business to serve an average of 150 students per week, even during the challenges of COVID, before successfully exiting the venture.

After that, I launched my own independent consulting business, helping companies optimize and automate their operations, improve their marketing and communication systems, and build stronger, more sustainable businesses.

Today, I also work as a Business Network Specialist with the Better Business Bureau serving Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast. In that role, I educate business owners on the value of trust and accreditation, build strategic partnerships with municipalities, chambers, and business organizations, and help create ecosystems that support referrals, sales, and retention. I also serve as the event coordinator for BBB Southeast Florida’s flagship event, the Torch Awards, overseeing everything from planning and sponsorship recruitment to ticket sales, vetting nominations, coordinating speakers and MCs, and managing the team.

My approach to coaching is shaped by all of this experience. I don’t just teach theory—I share hard-won lessons from my own journey, and help you apply them in practical, tailored ways that work for your business. Professional and life experience

With over a decade of diverse experience in business, leadership, and coaching, I bring a unique blend of real-world entrepreneurship and corporate expertise to my coaching practice.

I began my career launching a marketing agency in college, where I helped multiple nightclubs increase revenue by driving college night promotions and innovating new revenue streams like party bus services. Following that, I opened my own retail shoe store—my first big business failure—which taught me the crucial importance of solid systems and processes.

Driven to master business operations, I transitioned into remote workforce management, implementing and training teams for major companies including Apple, AARP, Victoria’s Secret, and the Small Business Administration (SBA), helping them shift from in-person to virtual work environments on a global scale.

Later, I co-founded McKay’s Music, a thriving in-home music lesson business serving the Tri-County area (Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach). During the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we successfully served an average of 150 students per week before exiting the business.

In 2023, I joined the Better Business Bureau as a Business Network Specialist for Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast, advocating for business accreditation and fostering strategic partnerships with municipalities, chambers, and business organizations. In this role, I also coordinate the flagship Torch Awards event, managing all aspects from sponsorship recruitment to event execution.

Throughout my career, I have developed expertise in business development, strategic marketing, leadership coaching, operational systems, and event management. I leverage this breadth of experience to help entrepreneurs, executives, and small business owners develop clarity, confidence, and sustainable growth strategies.

Fee description

My coaching services are designed for serious entrepreneurs and business owners ready to take meaningful action. Individual 60-minute sessions start at $350 for targeted strategy and accountability.

Discounted multi-session packages are available for ongoing support. Group coaching for teams is custom-priced based on size and training goals.

Consulting retainers are also available for businesses needing in-depth strategy development, systems mapping, and team training over several months.
