About Me

I support people from all walks of life with direction, life purpose, leadership, well-being and deeper connection with the living earth. I have over 20 years of leadership experience in health, social care, education and regeneration sectors in the UK. Posts have included CEO of Northern Learning Trust, Business Director for Turning Point, and homelessness service commissioning. I work with anyone looking to create positive change in their personal life, working life or both. I offer the following three coaching specialisms, individually or weaved together into a single holistic package. Creating Life Purpose Creating Wellbeing and Resilience Creating Authentic Leadership Throughout the 90’s I worked as an addictions counsellor and managed projects and services for homeless people where I developed a deep desire to challenge social injustice and inequality. I have a background in charity leadership, leadership development and change management. In 1999 I worked in a South African Township near Durban, an experience that taught me the importance of community leadership and active hope in the face of extreme challenge. I have been a keen naturalist from childhood - a time when the ancient woodlands, heaths and moors of the New Forest were my backdrop and playground. I have studied at the Schumacher College of Sustainability and have been deeply influenced by the writing of Satish Kumar, Joseph Campbell and nature author Robert McFarlane. I closely follow principles set out within the spiral of The Work that Reconnects and Active Hope developed by Joanna Macey and Chris Johnstone. My coaching, mentoring and workshops are framed in positive psychology, eco-psychology, wellbeing and resilience training and transformative holistic learning. I trained as a Transformational Coach at the Animas School of Coaching. Dip in Personal Transformation Coaching Barefoot Pilgrim, synergises my love of the natural world, positive psychology and holistic coaching to inspire sustainable change for people, place and planet.

Coaching with me

How I like to coach

I recommend on average 4 to 6 sessions over a period of 2 to 3 months to make change sustainable. It is also fine to have more sessions over a longer time frame, checking in every few months or longer to discuss progress and self development and to come for just 1 or 2 sessions if you feel you need support with a specific situation or issue. It is important to me that my coaching work is as inclusive as possible and available to a broad range of people with low to high income. I like to encourage potential clients to speak to me about their particular circumstances if their financial situation stops them from taking up sessions.

After an initial consultation we agree the type of coaching session plan that best fits you. This may be a mix of face to face coaching and walking sessions (this is a popular approach), face to face only or walking only.
